October 11 Day 7 HEALING

Santa  Cruz to LaGuardia (didn’t I just fly into LaGuardia?)…. Coast to coast!

Word for the day:  healing ❤️‍🩹 I am hoping to heal in the amazing grace of God and my fellow pilgrims!

 So, I came down with 102 fever 🥵 last night.  So, that means I get a day of rest and meditation.  For one who rarely gets sick: Is this God’s way of making me slow down?   So, an opportunity to reflect on the sights I have seen, and meditate on the beauty of nature! I’m going to start with the trees.  So many images with trees.  The tree of life!  The tree of the cross!  The tree of good and evil!  The trees that bear fruit 🍎.  So a pictorial of trees;

This was the dam on our first day of serious walking!

And below was our walk from yesterday. No pics today, so here’s a double dose from yesterday!

                  The solitude was breathtaking!♥️
   TAKE TIME TO REFLECT ON THE IMAGES!
       The brave pilgrims who completed 25 km,
                but they missed the rain.

   The tres amigas who stayed behind at the hostel.   Anna, who speaks fluent Spanish; and my guardian angel, Kathy.  Fun fact:  the most Basque who live outside of Spain, live in the Boise valley.  After telling him I grew up in Idaho with lots of Basque (I was able to say this with my minimal Spanish).  But then Spanish speaking Anna, interpreted.  His wife’s family had a large sheep ranch somewhere around Boise.

          It is indeed a small world after all!

I did take a few shots (and a beer rather than a shot of whiskey) in the village of Medrano. Oh, My hot toddy last night was $1.80 euros, with great shot of coffee.  When I told him it would be $6 in the states, he almost charged me that amount!😊

                  The village was full of flowers 🌸.

 A great view of the countryside, playground included

And just when you need mom, here she is!
There has been a yellow butterfly following me throughout this trip. And there was an information board describing the butterflies of the area.  At my mom’s funeral last August, there was a field full of these small butterflies (sulphuric in the states).
We all met up, and here I am at our “Last Supper.”
My daughter has offered to pick me up tomorrow so I can go see her doctor in Barcelona.  I have decided to take her up on this offer, so I can be well for the last of the pilgrimage!  No St Ignatius here, making his trek with a broken leg 500 years ago!

             Maybe I’ll walk 100 miles!    Jeez Louise!
