October 22, Day 17 Gather

 Word for the day:  Gathering.  Whenever 2 or more are gathered in God’s name, there is ❤️ love. 

So today, all the pilgrims gathered together in Lleida.  Now there are 25!  Tomorrow, we set out on a 24km walk ?, hike?, trek?, but most likely, a journey.  Today’s readings at Mass were powerful.  The gospel spoke of the tax collector and the Pharisee, Luke 18.  Moral of the story, those who exalt themselves shall be humbled and those who humble themselves shall be exalted.

That pesky word, humility.  It’s the lesson I have been trying to learn my entire life.  And I’m a VERY SLOW LEARNER!   But each new experience helps me to become more humble.  I thought I had trained well for this walk!  But here comes God, saying, nope.  You need to humble yourself and accept that the Camino I had planned, is not the one God had in mind.

So I return to this gathering of 26 pilgrims, to celebrate Mass at St Ignatius Church, ready for a new journey tomorrow.   Jeez Louise!

    Couple of months ago, I asked God why he let so many people believe so many things that are so wrong - and then call them "theology." Of course, it is a question that lacks humility. -- Maxine

Vermouth in Barcelona

Hola from Barcelona!  I arrived on Wednesday, September 28 with my daughter Eileen. I have been slowly adjusting to the big city. Walking, exploring Museu Nacional  D’Art de Catalunya, Barcelona. Like Don Quixote, (Ismael Smith, circa 1927), I will be tilting at windmills on this awesome journey.  Eileen and I joined some of her friends for a vermouth festival along the Mediterranean Shores.  It was complete with music, great vermouth, and quite the lightning show. I don’t think that’s a halo over my head!  But maybe at The end of my 30 day pilgrimage, it might be. So I was the only won who won a t-shirt by completing the Olympic bottle toss by lassoing 3 Bottles!   The night ended with my first  ride on an electric bike, and I didn’t crash.   Speaking of crashing; it’s 12:30 am,  Beyond time of my turning into a pumpkin. Perfect Feb 24, 24

"Today’s Gospel contains three commands from Jesus: Love your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you. Be perfect Loving and praying for such people seems challenging at best. But it’s the third command - “Be perfect” - that might provide the most hope and empower us to love more wholly. The original Greek for perfect can also be translated as whole or complete. Using this translation, the command no longer seems impossible. Be whole." November 1, Day 27, Finale!

Word for the day:  FINALE:   The close or termination of something!  Unfortunately, my grand nephew, Artemis Harrison McRae, age 2 years, 1 month; died today in his parents’ arms after sustaining brain damage  He experienced appendicitis, obtained a new liver, but was snatched from this earth this day, All Saints Day! It has added such sadness and disbelief to my life.  So, On this day of incredible loss for our family, we ended our pilgrimage.  We had a final  lunch after going to Mass at Sagrada Familia.   The Holy Family also suffered much loss, but Jesus was in his family’s life for 33 years; rather than 2! 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.  7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”    2 Timothy 6-7                 Nativity on right side, blues & greens         ...
