October 8, Day 4 Climb every mountain
Word for the day: Perseverance. Today we climbed 2200 meters, 25 kilometers. You do the math for our exceptional country that refuses to change to metric and Celsius. Some views along the way.
Like Jesus, I fell 3 times. Where is Simon of Cyrene when you need him.
One misty moisturizer morning when cloudy was the weather!
The fog set in, so we couldn’t really see how high we had traveled! There’s me with my JVC director, Dave! I put on my poncho so I would t get wet!
Charlie and Betsy from Boston. Charlie said he wanted to be in the blog! So here u go! Betsy stepping it up!
We stayed st a lovely hotel/restaurant where Ignatius stayed 500 years ago in the Basque Country. Village of Arantzazu. . We had a fabulous dinner at the end of the day! 3 course meal with way too much food!
We had mass in the chapel run by the Franciscans.
The alter is very simple with beautiful stone. The tiny bright spot, is the Madonna in blue! This statue is over 500 years old! It includes a cow bell and a tree 🌲
The church itself is quite unique! The tower represents the thorn trees Ignatius encountered on his walk. There are 14 disciples, representing the 14 oarsmen who usually man the sailing ships. The inside of the church looks like a boat, but was too dark for pictures.
Enough for tonight, except for sleeping beauty from last night!!’ I needed sleep and have a cold, so 2 masks!
Jeez Louise!
