Word for the day: gather: bring together
Last night, my dad, brother Charlie, Sister Susan, and myself; gathered around the dining room table for a discussion of evil, heaven, the 2nd coming of Christ. We all had different views, but it was interesting to discuss evil and what that means for our world. Atonement, is there really a hell? Or does reincarnation kick in and we come back until we get it right! As the Indigo Girls say:
How long 'til my soul gets it right ? Can any human being ever reach that kind of light
I call on the resting soul of Galileo king of night vision
King of insight. https://youtu.be/oCbjGH2gO6Y
And it was not unlike other discussions at the dinner table growing up.
Rita, Connie and Perry, the youngsters in the family
A gathering with the George “girls” when Mom was still alive. She never missed a meal and never stayed in bed all day during the 5 years she was cared for at home! Home, so important for healing!
But it is delightful and I blesssed that so many important conversations that shaped me occurred at the dinner table! We attempted to continue that tradition in with our children, but sometimes sports prevailed.
On this day of the pilgrimage, The group walked from Alfaro to Tudela! Holy Toledo!
According to Wikepedia:
When Christians under Alfonso the Battler conquered Tudela in 1119, three different religious communities were living there:
Although the Muslims were forced to live outside the city, it still reflects the merging of the 3 cultures.

I too was taking pictures of trees that day

So when I clicked October 16, past years also popped into view. October 2021, we had embarked on a 7,000
Mile cross country trip (not walking!). Here we are, the whole fam dam, celebrating the wedding of my niece Megan and her husband Chris!

I forget how much I travel.
Here I am with my dear friend Barb, Oct 16, 2016. Dave and I took a cross country trip then for my nephew Carson’s wedding. Happier times. Our grand nephew, Artemis would die this year in November at the age of 2, from complications of appendicitis.🥲

Thus, this day began the 2nd week of the spiritual exercises:
- Week 2: focuses on Christ’s mission to save and heal the world. The retreatant discovers more intimately Jesus’ compassion and fundamental love of the people. The retreatant grows in a desire to join Jesus in his mission.
so I thought the “sin and unworthiness” might come to an end. But, we were to reflect on:
“The meditations that touch on our own human sinfulness.”
So week 2, I will concentrate on Christ’s mission.
He focused on changing the world in a positive way.
He did not ask Mary Magdalene to focus on her sins
Rather, he embraced her and asked her to share her strengths and her love and concern for others.
So too, I will spend week 2 concentrating on Jesus true message of justice and reconciliation. Jesus!
