December 5, just thinking
Word for the day: thoughtfulness. 2 meanings: 1. The state of being absorbed in our mind’s trappings 2. Consideration of the needs of others.
I think I need to let go of the absorption of thoughts in order to be considerate of others!
We left with sun rising overhead. The church tower providing a beacon of hope, peace, and reconciliation. It was a lovely sunny day. Our walk was from Arantzazu to Egunio. We stopped for coffee along the way. Some of the lovely views along the way! The animals can be viewed on the October 9 post!
Antony, our Aussie Angel, always staying behind to provide encouragement and reconciliation! He helped us believe we could take that next step of the Camino!

Reconciliation: the act of making one belief compatible with another.
In October, the word was reconciliation. I remember the thoughts racing through my mind that day. Somehow remembering my childhood Catholic upbringing; the fear of our Irish priest with a horrible temper. The trepidation at Catechism, hoping not to be called upon, for fear of not answering the questions in absolute rote. And not knowing how Father would respond. Reconciliation with the God fearing church of my childhood and the God loving church I search for in adulthood. Reconciliation with a church that refuses to treat women as equals. A church that continues to silence women from the pulpit. I think I have a long way to go with Catholic reconciliation!
One more step up some steep hills! A mural at a school we passed
A small town where we stopped for an afternoon drink And, again, our destination, another convent!
